Lavender Photoshoots in Hertfordshire

There is something about lavender season that just feels different.

The light is softer, the colours are richer, and everything slows down a little. It is one of the most beautiful times of year for photos, especially here in Hertfordshire where the fields at Hitchin Lavender create the most incredible backdrop.

My lavender sessions are relaxed and natural. No stiff posing, no pressure. Just space for you to be together while I quietly capture it.

Just like my bluebell sessions, these shoots are perfect for families, maternity, couples or even just updating photos of your children as they are right now.

Lavender Photoshoots at Hitchin Lavender

If you have searched for lavender photos in Hertfordshire, you have probably already come across Hitchin Lavender. It is one of the most well known spots in the UK and for good reason. The rows of purple stretch for miles, the views are open and peaceful, and the light in the evening is unreal. I photograph most of my lavender sessions here because it gives you that soft, dreamy look while still feeling natural and unforced.

Who are lavender sessions for?

These shoots work beautifully for:

  • Families who want something a bit different to woodland photos
  • Mums who are always behind the camera and want to be in the frame
  • Maternity sessions with a soft, romantic feel
  • Couples who want natural, non-awkward photos together
  • Children who just want to run through the rows and explore

You can see some examples of my family photography here. You do not need to worry about what to do. I will gently guide you where needed, but most of the time I am just observing and capturing what naturally happens.

What a lavender photoshoot with me is like

We keep things simple. We meet at the fields.. I will guide you to the best areas depending on light and how busy it is, and then we just let things unfold. There is no pressure to perform. No forced smiles. If your children run, we follow. If they cuddle in, we stay there. If everything feels a bit chaotic, that is usually where the best photos come from. After the session, you will receive a gallery to choose your images from, with the option to upgrade if you fall in love with more. Take a look at this post showing you what a family photo shoot with me is really like.

Jodie photographed our family with two very young daughters and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. We felt completely at ease, and the final images are beautiful. We are so grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone considering a professional family photoshoot.

FAQ

When is lavender season in Hertfordshire?

Lavender usually blooms between late June and early August, with peak season often falling in July. Dates can vary slightly depending on weather, so sessions are released in line with the bloom each year.

What should we wear for a lavender photoshoot?

Neutrals, soft tones and light fabrics work best. Think whites, creams, soft blues or muted pastels. I send a full styling guide after booking so you do not have to overthink it.

Are lavender photoshoots suitable for young children?

Yes, they are perfect for little ones. The open space gives them room to move and explore, which means more natural, relaxed photos rather than forced poses.

Do we need to pay entry to Hitchin Lavender?

Yes, entry to the fields is not included in the session price and is payable directly to Hitchin Lavender. I will guide you on exactly what to book once your session is confirmed.
