Relaxed Hertfordshire Wedding Photography
I’m a Hertfordshire wedding photographer documenting relaxed, natural weddings across the county and further afield. My approach is documentary and unobtrusive so you can experience the day rather than perform it. I guide gently when needed and step back when it matters, allowing moments to unfold without interruption.
I photograph weddings in a way that feels calm and unforced. Less directing, more noticing. Many couples tell me they’re worried about feeling awkward in front of a camera. You won’t be asked to pose for long periods or pulled away from your guests. Instead I keep things moving naturally, giving simple prompts when helpful so you can relax into the day.
Wedding Photography Across Hertfordshire
I regularly photograph weddings across Hertfordshire including St Albans, Hertford, Ware, Hitchin and Harpenden. Each area brings a slightly different feel to a wedding day, from busy town celebrations to quieter countryside venues.
I’ve worked at many local venues such as Hatfield House, Ware Priory, Milling Barn, South Farm, Tewin Bury Farm and Fanhams Hall, and understanding how each space flows helps the day feel calm rather than rushed. Knowing where light falls, where guests naturally gather and when to step back makes a noticeable difference to how relaxed the photography feels.

About us
I’m Jodie -The photographer behind Fables.
I’ve been photographing weddings for over a decade, and my approach has always been rooted in storytelling rather than staging. I work calmly and intuitively, blending into the day and documenting it as it naturally unfolds.
For most weddings, I’m joined by my other half, Lee, who works as my second shooter. We move through the day together in a way that feels unobtrusive and easy, allowing us to capture different perspectives without adding any extra noise or pressure. It also means nothing is missed - while one of us is focused on the wider atmosphere, the other can quietly notice the smaller details happening alongside it.
Together, we document your wedding day honestly and thoughtfully, creating a body of work that reflects how it felt, not just how it looked.

Worried about being awkward in photos?

01.
Do you pose or direct us on the day?
Our approach is very relaxed and largely documentary. We won’t ask you to perform or constantly pose - instead, we focus on observing and capturing what naturally unfolds. We'll gently guide you if needed (especially during group photos or portraits), but the emphasis is always on keeping things feeling easy and true to you.
02.

What if we’re not very comfortable in front of the camera?
That is absolutely fine. Most couples tell us this, and it’s something we're very used to. We work quietly and unobtrusively, giving you space to be present with each other rather than thinking about the camera. The aim is for the photography to feel like a natural part of the day, not something you’re aware of.
03.
Do you work alone or with a second photographer?
For all weddings, I’m joined by my other half, Lee, who works as my second shooter. This allows us to capture different perspectives throughout the day without being intrusive - from the wider atmosphere to the smaller, in-between moments - and ensures nothing important is missed.

What happens if it rains?
Rain rarely causes problems and often makes the day feel calmer. Most venues have indoor spaces with good light and we can step outside briefly when it eases. I always plan flexible options so you won’t spend the day worrying about the weather. Some of my favourite photographs have happened on rainy days because everyone relaxes into it.
Wedding Photography Pricing
Every wedding is slightly different, so coverage is tailored around the shape of your day rather than fixed hourly blocks. Most couples choose coverage from preparations through to the first dance, with shorter options available for smaller celebrations.
Investment typically reflects full day documentary coverage and carefully edited images delivered in an online gallery, with the option to add albums or extra time if you need it later. I’m always happy to talk through what you’re planning and suggest a level of coverage that fits naturally, without overbooking time you won’t use. More FAQ
How many hours of wedding photography do we need?
Most couples choose coverage from preparations through to the first dance, which usually tells the story of the day naturally without watching the clock. If you’re planning something smaller or more relaxed, shorter coverage can work just as well. I’m happy to talk through your plans and suggest what would suit the pace of your day rather than fitting you into a fixed structure.
Do you cover weddings outside Hertfordshire?
Yes. I’m based in Hertfordshire but regularly photograph weddings across the surrounding counties and further afield. The approach stays the same wherever the location. Calm, unobtrusive and focused on the atmosphere rather than the schedule. Travel can be discussed when you enquire so everything is clear from the start.
How long until we receive our gallery?
You’ll receive a small preview within 48 hours so you have something to share and enjoy straight away. The full gallery is usually ready within 6–8 weeks depending on the time of year. Each image is carefully edited for consistency so the whole set feels cohesive rather than rushed.
Do you help with timeline planning?
Yes, and it often makes the biggest difference to how relaxed the day feels. I can help suggest ceremony times, travel gaps and when to fit group photos so nothing feels squeezed in. The aim is always to protect time with your guests while still giving space for photographs to happen naturally.
